DAVE
BERGER, LCMHC, PT, MA has practiced physical therapy and psychotherapy for many
years, uniquely integrating his practices for clients with physical
pain and movement problems, trauma histories and anxiety disorders, and
relationship and life change issues. Dave is both a mental health
counselor and marriage and family therapist (California) and uses his
training in verbal and somatic/body oriented psychotherapy in his work
with clients. He understands that the relationship between an
individual 's challenges, his or her family system dynamics, cultural
issues, and work settings need to come together in their healing
process.
Dave is a certified Somatic
Experiencing® practitioner, consultant and teaching assistant
for the long term trainings. He is also a Rosen Method Bodywork®
practitioner. Dave is trained in manual therapy, craniosacral
therapy, joint mobilization, muscle energy technique, and several other
manual approaches. He uses these approaches with exercise,
movement education, and physical therapy modalities, blending them with
somatics approaches such as Feldenkrais, Alexander technique and
Authentic Movement.
Dave received his Bachelor's degree in Somatopsychology from the
University of Maryland. His graduate degrees are from Stanford
University in Physical Therapy and California Institute of Integral
Studies in Somatic Psychology. He has been a professor in
physical therapy and is adjunct faculty at Vermont College, Union
Institute and University, and Antioch Graduate College, and he teaches
introductory workshops in Somatic Experiencing.
Dave enjoys spending time with his family
bicycling, hiking, cross-country skiing, kayaking, and just relaxing at
home.
